UNAIR NEWS – Volleyball Club of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) won second place in women Volleyball Competition 2018 held by Volleyball Club of Parahyangan Catholic University. Beside winning second place, the title of Most Valuable Player (MVP) was awarded to Dewi Putri Sandrawati from UNAIR Volleyball club.

The competition held at the beginning of the term from February 2 to February 10, was followed by UNAIR women Volleyball team through an invitation sent by the committee.

” Volleyball UNPAR only invited the women team only, the men’s volleyball team did not participate, but it is preparing to participate in other competitions, “explained Izzatul Putri Dinda Syafidah, one of the delegates in the championship.

Asked about their readiness before the championship, Dinda said that the preparation was not easy. She said, the exercise was done between classes. A lot of  Volleyball club members were in the middle of  internship, PKL, and even KKN. However, even it was difficult to determine the exercise schedule, they did not stop their intention to practice.

“We usually practice for the competition for one full week for preparation. It was different for this competition because a lot of the team members were doing activities outside and were on holiday. So we just practice every weekend. Others were also willing to practice at that time, “said Dinda.

At the beginning of the competition, Dinda continued, the delegates did not really target to be the champion. The lost in the first game. However, the second and next matches were successful so they have confidence in winning the competition.

“For the first match we played against a team from UNPAD (Padjadjaran University, Bandung). We could not win from them yet. But in the next few games, we continue to win against the other teams until we met UNPAD at the end of the competition, ” said Dinda.

After winning at UNPAR, the next target of Volleyball Club is to hold a volleyball competition.

“Our next target is Airlangga National Volleyball Competition (ANVC) this year held even better than the previous year,” explained Dinda about the annual competition. (*)
