UNAIR NEWS – One by one, programs of Faculty of Medicine Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) is accredited by Institution of Independent Accreditation for Indonesian Health Higher Education (LAM-PTKes). From the 25 programs of FK UNAIR, 11 programs have been accredited, while 14 other programs were waiting the assessment process.
PPDS-1 program of Pulmonology and Respiratory Medicine FK UNAIR become one of the programs which is currently awaiting result of assessment by LAM-PTKes team.
In the visit of LAM-PTKes for two-days (6-7 February 2018), Oea Khairsyaf, dr., Sp.P (K) and Sudirman Katu, dr., Sp.PD-KPTI were welcomed by the officials of FK UNAIR along with the coordinator of the program, in the Assembly Room C, FK UNAIR.
After conducting the assessment of Pulmonology and Respiratory Medicine PPDS-1 Program at UNAIR, in the near future, LAM-PTKes Institution will schedule another visitation program for Ophthalmology and Anatomic Pathology Undergraduate Program.
In addition to targeting LAM-PTKes accreditation in all specialist medical education programs, FK UNAIR also targets international accreditation in two other study programs. Namely, Prodi S1 bidan and S1 doctor education program.
Midwifery Undergraduate Program is currently preparing for accreditation of ASEAN University Networking-Quality Assessment (AUN-QA). While in August 2018, Medicine Undergraduate program, Faculty of Medicine UNAIR is getting ready for LAMPT-Kes accreditation recognized by World Federation Medical Education (WFME).
Vice Rector I of Universitas Airlangga, Prof. Djoko Santoso, dr., Sp.PD-KGH., Ph.D., FINASIM said that WFME plans to access LAM-PTKes Indonesia institution and choose UNAIR as an assessment object. So when it is successful, then LAM-PTKes will be recognized internationally.
This year, the Medicine Undergraduate Program UNAIR will also soon follow the other five UNAIR study programs which are accredited to Accreditation Agency for Degree Programs in Engineering, Informatics / Computer Science, the Natural Sciences and Mathematics (ASIIN), S1 Apothecary Education, S1 Biology, S1 Chemistry, S1 Mathematics, and S1 Physics.
FK UNAIR is preparing for ASIIN international accreditation which is expected to take place between August to October 2018.
ASIIN accreditation is required to ensure that graduates of FK UNAIR are recognized worldwide. By obtaining recognition from ASIIN, the competence of graduates is acknowledged, who will continue their studies or will pursue an international career.
“Hopefully it is in line with the message of Rector that maintaining quality is everything,” he said.
In the same occasion, the Deputy Director of Education and Research RSUD Dr. Soetomo Dr. Anang Endaryanto, dr., Sp.A (K) said that, RSUD Dr. Soetomo does not only provide health services, but also produces professional doctors sent by FK, ranging from specialists and improve the quality of research.
“For successful services, we also have to pay attention to all programs to implement their vision and missions. Because RSUD Dr. Soetomo can not develop without the support of lecturers and students, “he said. (*)
