UNAIR NEWS – As a form of Higher Education Tri Dharma implementation, bidikmisi students of Universitas Airlangga held a “Devotion Camp” Campaign 2018. The social activities are conducted in Suwaluh, Talunrejo Village, Bluluk Sub-district, Lamongan Regency, East Java. A remote village about 70 km from the city center.

The event themed “With Bidikmisi, Building Character of Golden Generation of Indonesia” was held for one week, from 14 to 21 January 2018. As in previous years, the activities was organized by the Airlangga University Bidikmisi Organization (AUBMO, red) on education, health, religion, and social aspects.

“There are about 90 families in the village. They were very excited and enthusiastic and welcomed this Devotion Camp well, “explained Hasbi One Ashiddiqi as the Head of the event.

Hasbi also added, the reason to choose Dusun Suwaluh for this activity because the area is a remote area. At that time, access to enter the area was very difficult because the access road is difficult and narrow. The majority of its residents also depend only on the agricultural sector.

“This Service Camp is an annual routine activity, this year being held in a different area from the previous 2 years held in Tuban. We chose Dusun Suwaluh, Lamongan, ” he explained.

In Dusun Suwaluh itself, added Hasbi, there are 2 buildings used for elementary, kindergarten, and early childhood education. Facilities and infrastructure are still very minimal, only a few rooms with ceramic floor.

Limited school facilities and infrastructure and low awareness of education both formal and nonformal cause new problems. Many local teenagers choose to marry early rather than continue their education to a higher level.

“In addition to these problems, other issues that are not less important are health problems. The health of citizens and the livestock are still very alarming. Alhamdulillah we can present the Bluluk Community Health Center and doctors to check the health of local residents and livestock, “explained the Sociology undergraduate student.

At the end, Hasbi advised that as a sophomore student who gets help from the government, it is only appropriate to serve the country.

“Devotion is not just talking about how long we serve because devotion will never be finished, not only about how we share knowledge because the science has no limit, but the devotion speaks of how beneficial we are to others,” he concluded.
