UNAIR NEWS – Internationalization efforts are not only done through international partnerships. Improving the quality of the programs is also an important factor. One of the methods is by doing international accreditation. This time the five programs at UNAIR are undergoing the process of accreditation by ASIIN Accreditation Agency for Degree Programs in Engineering, Informatics/Computer Science, the Natural Sciences and Mathematics). An international accreditation agency based in Germany.

The five programs are bachelor’s degree programs of Apothecary Education, Biology, Chemistry, Math, and Physics. The five programs underwent the accreditation process for two days, November 22-23. Regarding the accreditation, Vice Rector II UNAIR Dr. Muhammad Madyan, S.E., M.Si., M.Fin., stated that UNAIR continuously strives to pursue excellence in education and research. Not only that, added Madyan, the improvement of research and innovation and the quality of programs also become the focus of UNAIR.

“Therefore, UNAIR takes an important step to undergo accreditation with assessors from the ASIIN team,” explained Madyan.

Responding to Madyan’s statement, Director of ASIIN. Dr. Iring Wasser stated that with ASIIN accreditation, the readiness of UNAIR should be thorough, especially in preparing the quality of human resources.

“Hopefully with this accreditation, quality improvement can always be continued,” he said.

Furthermore, Head of Quality Assurance Board of UNAIR Prof. Dr. Sukardiman, Apt., MS., stated that ASIIN accreditation is an international recognition to programs at UNAIR. Regarding the five programs that are in the exact science, Prof. Sukardiman asserted that ASIIN is an accreditation institution that assesses natural science clusters.

“Because, ASIIN is an institution that accredites the natural sciences. In the future, social, economic, and cultural clusters will also be processed for international accreditation, ” he said.

In addition to give positive impact as an effort to improve the international recognition of UNAIR, ASIIN international accreditation, is a step and way of UNAIR to be a world class university.

“One of them is through international accreditation,” said the Professor of Faculty of Pharmacy.

In the end, Prof. Sukardiman stated that on the results of the assessment, overall, the five programs received positive responses. From their learning facilities, learning process, and lecturer performance. Prof. Sukardiman hoped the accreditation result will be satisfactory.

“The ASIIN assessment score ranges from 0-4. Hopefully we can get 3.5 or more, “he said.
