UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa) becomes the backbone of the BAPOMI (Student Sports Supervisory Board of Indonesia) East Java to the arena of POMNAS (National Student Sports Week), in Makassar, South Sulawesi, 14-21 October 2017. From the 251 student athletes and BAPOMI East Java officials there are 55 people from UNESA.
Furthermore, Universitas Brawijaya sent the second most, 35 student athletes and trainers. State University of Malang (UM) was with 30 people, then University of Surabaya (Ubaya) 24 people athletes and coaches. While the University of Airlangga supports at the fifth with 16 people, followed by UNP Kediri 11 people.
In the latest meeting at UNAIR, it was revealed that the domination of UNESA is considered reasonable because it has Faculty of Sport Science (FIK). The faculty educates and trains students to learn about sports, both in theory and practice in various sports.
Chairman of the contingent of POMNAS BAPOMI East Java. Edy Mintarto, M.Kes., detailed 30 public and private universities in East Java participating in sending their students to compete in the fifth POMNAS in Makassar this year. There is a total of 251 athletes / coaches to compete in 14 sports competed in Makassar.
The sports followed by East Java are athletics, swimming, basketball, volleyball, badminton, chess, futsal, karate, kempo, pencak silat, petanque, swimming, sepak takraw, tarung derajat and tennis court. But East Java did not take part in two exhibitions in diving and gateball diving.
“The contingent of BAPOMI Jatim went to Makassar in waves, following the game schedule. For example futsal that will be commenced before the opening date of 14 October. BAPOMI East Java Contingent Treasurer, Moch Z. Zoehdi, MA., added that the purchase of airline tickets for the contingent of BAPOMI East Java has been all managed, thanks to cooperation with Airlangga Global Travel Surabaya including hotel reservations in the city of Makassar.
Report from Team Admission and Administration of BAPOMI East Java Contingent led by Dr. Oce Wiriawan, M.Kes., who had been in Makassar a week before, that the contingent accommodation had been prepared. Athletes and coaches who come in waves, upon arrival in Makassar were well prepared, including the pick up by LO, from the hotel, to the various venues of the match.
“We happen to get a hotel in the central region, so it is relatively close and easy to get to the venues,” added Dr. Edy Mintarto. (*)
