UNAIR NEWS – Two students of Political Science of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) won the first prize in Scientific Writing Contest (OSCAR) in the series of National Forum of Indonesian PPKN Student National Association in 2017, taking place from 2 to 6 October 2017 at the Faculty of Social Sciences Padang University, West Sumatra. The theme of the competition was “Existence of Pancasila in Global Era”.
Both students, Dimas Lazuardy Firdauz (2014) and Dian Dwi Jayanto (2014) managed to get the attention of the judges with their work entitled “Coexistence of Pancasila & Global Era as a Form of Open Ideology Against the Development of the Age”. It is marked by the appreciation of the judges while they were explaining the idea of Pancasila co-existence concept in its struggle with contemporary political phenomenon, such as from the arising “right” religious movement and the re-emergence of controversy related to PKI.
“The government should not use overnationalism in responding to various political struggles of identity, either left or right. Including reproducing the identity of communism to create fear in the community, in order to strengthen nationalism “, explained Dian Dwi Jayanto in the presentation.
His teammate Dimas Lazuardy expressed his impression on their winning. “Since before the race, we actually focus more its funding from the campus for transportation costs. Alhamdulillah, we got victory, “he recalled.
The series of National Forum (SILATNAS) was previously opened by West Sumatra Governor Irwan Prayitno. Then it followed by ICCE International Seminar 2017 at Postgraduate Hall of Padang State University. There were also other agendas implemented. (*)
