UNAIR NEWS – Rector of Universitas Airlangga Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih symbolically topping off the rooftop in 10th floor of new building of Faculty of Pharmacy.

The ceremony of laying first pile of new Pharmacy building was on June 15th 2015 and expected it will be done in 2018.

“For the perfect finish is about in 2019 but in 2018 we can use at least just five floors out of ten. So, this year the first five floor will be prepared,” said the rector during interview with UNAIR news on August 18th.

The ten floors building will be used for various functions such as classroom, lecturer room, and administration room; also laboratories for student and lecture to conduct the research.

Nasih said that the laboratory in the new building was not only can be used for either pharmacy students or lecturers, but also for student from other faculties that had similar study.

“If there is a laboratory that matched to other study, it can be shared with others too, so there will be basic laboratory that can be used by many faculties. Including, providing facility that still incomplete is to have classroom that nearby laboratory for discussion for master and doctoral student,” said the professor form Faculty of Economics and Business

After the new building ready to use, the former building previously located in Campus B will be reformed. So, the new building of faculty of Pharmacy will be on the same area of scientific faculties in Campus C.

In his speech, Nasih said that he and the officer prepared about the name of building. It has been expected to have its own name when officially opened.

“So, when on the opening ceremony this building would be not known as pharmacy building,” he said

According to Nasih, new building of Faculty of Pharmacy would be as pilot project of organized laboratories in Universitas Airlangga.

“For example if there is pharmacy student want to know about entrepreneur, just  go to Faculty Economics and Business or pharmacy student want to learn about statistics, they can go to Faculty of Science and Technology,” Rector said

“The opening ceremony of this building will also fix those problems. Because source of knowledge and technology is research, and the source of research is laboratory, so it takes attention about laboratory establishment,” He said
