UNAIR NEWS – Another extraordinary achievement made by Jefferson Caesario, a medical student of Faculty of Medicine Universitas Airlangga. He has won a silver medal in International Mathematics Competition (IMC) held in Bulgaria, July 31 – August 6. He was received by UNAIR Rector Prof. Mohammad Nasih in his office room on Monday, August 14.
“It is an extraordinary achievement. Mathematics Olympiad at global level. He got a bronze last time, now he got a silver. It means his belief and confidence were significant factors to get better achievement,” said UNAIR Rector congratulating Jefferson.
Jefferson’s achievement year by year is improving. In 2015 he succeeded in winning First place, National Science Olympiad (OSN) Pertamina. He got an opportunity to 2016 IMC selection and he won a bronze medal. He became a delegate in 2017 IMC and won a silver medal.
For this achievement, UNAIR Rector advised the other students to work hard and make achievements at international level.
“UNAIR students have great potentials. They are the best students and they should aim for international achievements,” said Professor of Faculty of Economics and Business.
In this occasion, UNAIR Rector also focus on making achievements in their fields. UNAIR is the stage preparing them to make achievements at international.
“We should never compere ourselves with other universities. In robotics, for example. We have our own specialties. One thing for sure, we have to be the best of ourselves. We have health, life sciences and social humanities. It must be emphasized,” he added.
Next year’s IMC, Jefferson will not be able to participate anymore. But his juniors at FK UNAIR will follow in his steps. For this, Jefferson is ready to support them to compete in 2018 IMC.
Meanwhile, to UNAIR NEWS, Director of Student Affairs Hadi Subhan said that Jefferson will be the official for IMC next year. (*)
