UNAIR NEWS – Student Club (UKM) of Universitas Airlangga showed off at Surabaya Flower and Culture Parade. Student Club Delegation brought Balinese Theme on the event which held on Sunday (7/5).
Head of Communication Forum Student Club UNAIR, Bisma Brata Atmaja, told that the theme was inspired by the history of King Airlangga who is a son of King Udayana from the Bali Kingdom.
“The concept is Balinese, but we combined it with Patrol Music. Why Bali? Because King Airlangga is the son of King Udayana from Bali,” Bisma Said.
The representation of Balinese Culture conveyed in the form of Decoration, Dresses. Make up and the additional personnel who also joined in the parade.
Bisma stated that the preparation was short. They prepared all of the things only in nine days
“The preparation was so short includes the Merak dancer. They only practiced for two days,” He said
Nevertheless, UNAIR delegation in Flower and Culture Parade got the warm respond from the visitors.
“During the trip, it feels hot yet amazing. We are all happy became the center of attention,” Said the Student of Faculty of Economics and Business UNAIR
The foreign student from Netherland who joined practice program at UNAIR, Jeroen Meert, felt happy became the part of the culture parade. Meert said that it was the first time to join flower and culture parade.
“I live in Netherland the number of the population is 36 thousands people, but today, I see more than 36 thousands people along the streets, very crowded and the weather is hot,” Meert added.
Same as Bisma, Meert said that the visitors seem happy while they were seeing the flower and culture parade, includes, UNAIR Delegation.
After passing through five kilometers departed from Tugu Pahlawan (Heroes Monument), the delegation of UNAIR welcomed by The mayor of Surabaya, Tri Rismaharini at Taman Bungkul (Bungkul Park).
Flower and Culture Parade is an event to celebrate birthday of Surabaya City. The Flower and Culture Parade was followed by 74 participants from government, private, banking, universities and schools.
