UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga is still a favorite place for senior high school students and teachers  to get information on student admission. This time, the students and teachers from Islamic Senior High School (MAN) 3 Malang made a visit to UNAIR and inquire some information on student admission.

There were 56 students and teachers listening to the presentation of the secretary of Information and Public Relations Center Dr. Bimo Aksono, drh., M.Kes., and a presentation on Student Admission Center (PPMB) Drs. Imam Siswanto, M.Si., on Sunday, January 9 in Kahuripan Hall 300.

In his presentation, Bimo explained general information about UNAIR, from the history, facilities, programs, scholarships to achievements made by the academicians of UNAIR such as Institute of Tropical Disease (ITD) which was appointed as Science and Technology Excellence Research Center.

“UNAIR has a research institution referred by global experts to study tropical diseases. If it is about tropical disease, global experts come to Indonesia. They come to Surabaya and headed for ITD UNAIR,” said Bimo.

Furthermore, Bimo also presented achievements by students and lecturers of UNAIR such as third place in National Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran 2016, the four summits expedition by nature’s lovers’ club, also a lecturer of Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) who was awarded Hadi Soesastro Award from Australian Foreign Affairs Ministry.

Meanwhile, Imam presented information on programs, competition rate and the admission channeld. Imam reminded the students to watch the competition level when choosing a program.

Medicine bachelor program for example has five percents competition rate which means from a hundred applicants only five will be admitted. Nutrition bachelor program has one percent competition rate which means from a hundred applicants only one is admitted.

One student asked “Does the region affect the quota for the admission?” Imam answered that there are no assessments made based on the region.

The visit of MAN 3 Malang was ended with taking photos and souvenirs exchange.
