UNAIR NEWS – Fatma Ayu Husnasari, the seventh semester of Faculty of Law Universitas Airlangga has won the regional contest of Puteri Indonesia 2017, East Java. The contest was held on Friday Night, January 6 in Rama Ballroom – Wyndham Hotel (Pullman), Surabaya.
She has been through obstacles, from the workshop called Smart, Independence & Creative, registration, and also photo-shoot session. Fatma the other 11 finalists were from various towns or cities in East Java, they were placed in isolation for two days on Thursday and Friday, January 5&6.
Fatma shared her story that when she was in isolation, every finalist had to show their talent and there was a deep interview assessed by the judges. At that time, Fatma showed her talent in playing the drums.
Fatma right now is finishing her thesis and she admitted that there were no preparations made for the contest. Her wish to join the contest was sudden, but Fatma likes challenges so she tried many things and learn a lot from positive activities to shape her character.
“It was unforgettable, that my participation was not something instant. There are process I had to get through,” she said.
In 2014, the girl was a Diajeng of Kota Blitar. She was also the Ambassador of East Java Traffic Agency in the same year. She was also in the fifth place of Raki Jatim.
Not only that, her academic achievements were plenty such as third place of National Moot Court Competition Supreme Court Cup 2014, Second place of FH Outstanding Student 2014, and third place in 2015. She was also a delegate in National Debate Competition Padjajaran Law Fair 2015 and Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Syarif Hidyatullah Law Fair 2015.
In FH UNAIR, Fatma is in Semi Autonomous Association (BSO) Asian Law Studens Association (ALSA) and Airlangga Young Jurist Society (MYMA). She is also an Al-Qur’an recitation mentor (PBA) in 2014 and 2015. Her GPA is always cum laude.
She has made a lot of achievements in modeling as well, such as the finalist of Top Guest Aneka Yess 2012 and semifinalist of Wajah Femina 2016. She was is some commercials too such as one by Telkomsel.
The inspiring figure for her is her mother. Fatma said that her mother has guided her since she was a child, to participate in competitions, modeling, drum band, MTQ and many other.
“My father left me since kindergarten or about five years old. My mom is a single fighter. Educating her children independently and patiently was not easy. I did it for my her. She’s the number one. She has been with me since I was a child and she has faced troubles so that I could join the competitions or activities,” said Fatma. (*)
