UNAIR NEWS – Airlangga Health Sciences Institute (AHSI) was established on November 27, 2015 based on Rector’s Decree. It was presided by Prof. Dr. Nasronudin., dr., Sp.PD-KPTI., and the secretary was Dr. Achmad Chusnu Romdhoni, dr.,Sp.THT-KL(K).
Since its establishment, AHSI has worked hard to be the science and technology development pillar in Health and Medical field. AHSI was also established to provide service, training and research useful for the society.
The science development in AHSI started from the upstream to downstream, from the the research desk and animal samples and went through a lot of process before drug formulation, medical equipment or service given mankind.
“Furthermore, the base potentials are also excellent. From the human resources or supporting facilities, AHSI has a laboratory in supporting units. It also has provided services to the society. On the other hand, AHSI is the mandate of Minister of Health and Minister of Research and Higher Education,” said Prof. Nasron.
With full supports from the state, Prof. Nasron believes and is confidence to face forward especially when UNAIR is expected to be one of the best study centers in the country. Through AHSI, the dream can be achieved, together with supports from internal and external parties of the university.
“To make AHSI a leading institution in service, training and research, collaborations are needed from various parties, A (academic), B (business), G (government), and Community. The academicians are the main pillars to run AHSI well. Insights and knowledge are important things to run the ship. Clear mind and interesting ideas are the main keys,” said the President Director of AHSI.
Meanwhile, business practitioners are needed as partners especially in order to apply the researches or to provide services to public. They can be the catalysts in science and technology development such as by giving mutual financial aid as long as there was no tendency to ill intention and the main benchmark is the people prosperity.
So, what are the roles of the government? It is the regulator and has the central position. An agreement in the view of some issues will make the government objective in making the policy, either related with the budgeting, fund or requirement of collaboration to bring benefits for all.
Community has the role as social control which is needed to maintain the quality of the service. Transparency to public is the proof of an institution has done their job well and correctly. (*)
