UNAIR NEWS –Defi Ika Suwandari, A.Md has an interesting experience when he was having an English training in Pusat Bahasa (Language Center). It was a part of developmental program for Bidikmisi students.

During the training, Defi and other participants were preparing for TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). With other Bidikmisi students of UNAIR she improved her structure, listening, and reading.

“When I was in the English training, I met a lot of friends from other departments every semester. I feel that the training is very useful as at the moment I work in an environment which is more likely to meet foreign patients,” said Defi.

She felt that the training was very useful for her job. Even though she was just graduated in December 2016, the alumnus has already worked for a dental laboratory in Bali, for about three months.

“I was trusted to work on ceramic department and few times I had to interact with the patient directly,” she said.

The graduate with GPA 3.74 admitted that she learned from nothing as the reality at work was different from what she learned in college. But Alhamdulillah she was more confident day by day as she was given more responsibilities and challenges.

When the program was still in Faculty of Dentistry (FKG), she was in Tari Saman UKF. She and her friends have performed in various events either faculty, university even outside campus including in national seminar and some other events.

She was also active in TKG student association and she was involved in some committees in FKG. “I participated few times as the committee of PPKMB and some seminars in FKG. At Semester III and IV, I was active in HIMA TKG and participated in orientation program of freshmen of Faculty of Vocational Studies,” said Defi.

After three years of study in UNAIR, Defi was proud of being a part of Universitas Airlangga as alumni. She has gained a lot of knowledge, insights, experience and met great people. Beside working as a laboratory staff, she wanted to continue her study as well. (*)
