UNAIR NEWS – To suppress zoonosis epidemic, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Universitas Airlangga held a seminar titled “Disaster Management and Risk Analysis of Zoonosis Diseases in Indonesia”. It was held in Tanjung Adiwinata Hall for two days, 29 and 30 November 2016. As a speaker as Dr. Mustofa Helmi Effendi, drh., DTAPH. The speaker who is also a lecturer of FKH UNAIR stated that the risk analysis of zoonosis anthrax in Blitar, there is an integrated process consisting of three main components.
“The three components are assessment of risk, management of risk and communication of the risk,” he explained.
The other speakers were Ir. Bernardus Wisnu Widjaja, M.Sc. Deputy of Prevention and Vigilance of National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB), Drh. I Ketut Diarmita, MP., general Director of Animal Husbandry and Health, Drg. R. Vensya Sitohang, M.Epid., Director of Vector Contagious Disease Prevention and Control and Zoonotic, Dr. Dr. Sri Budayanti, SpMK., also Dr. A.T. Soelih, Estoepangestie, drh., a lecturer of FKH UNAIR.
In the occasion, Vice Dean III Prof. Dr. Suwarno, drh., M.Si., stated that the event was held because zoonosis is still cannot be eradicated in Indonesia. “We hope we can managed the disaster and minimize the loss or if possible without any loss,” said the head of Zoonosis Centre FKH UNAIR.
In front of participants from 11 different provinces, Prof. Suwarno who is also the head of Indonesian Veterinarian Association (PDHI) of East Java was also elaborated the plan and expectation from the event.
“Hopefully this event can give solutions to government and related institution on zoonosis,” he said. (*)
