UNAIR NEWS – Thursday, November 10, 2016, Universitas Airlangga is 62 years old. The celebration of its 62nd anniversary was themed “62 Years of Universitas Airlangga for Just and Civilized Indonesia”. As the main event, UNAIR held scientific orations attended by public officials, academicians and general public.
In UNAIR 62nd anniversary, UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. M. Nasih, S.E., M.T., Ak, invited all elements to reflect and reinforce synergy so UNAIR academic community can give more to the people of Indonesia. All academicians of UNAIR, either students or lecturers are expected to be able to deal with any problems in all aspects of Indonesia.
“Aspects of justice is the main mission of 62 years of UNAIR,” said UNAIR Rector. “UNAIR must contribute in reinforcing Indonesia with social justice for its people,” he added.
“Without justice, unity will be difficult to achieve. Without civility, deliberation will be difficult to create. Justice and civility are absolute requirement for NKRI,” said Prof. Nasih.
The 62nd Dies Natalis Assembly of Universitas Airlangga was attended by two government officials Indonesian Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran and Deputy Chairman of Corruption Eradication Commission Laode M. Syarif. Each orator elaborated their performance at work and hopes for their institutions.
In his speech, Minister of Agriculture talked about national food security. For two years, his ministry has tried to untangle the complex ‘thread’ complex in food security aspects. The thread meant is bureaucracy, human resources, and export import.
“It must be done continuously so we make grand policy until 20145. It must be dealth with one at a time. If necessary, we must be the food source at global scale,” said Andi.


Deputy Chairman of KPK Laode, in his oration, hoped that academic research in Justice and Corruption can be improved. So, university must be the source of innovation for corruption eradication in Indonesia.
Laode also hoped for anti-corruption values to be implemented in the curriculum of university. According to him, university must be the source of corruption prevention and set good example for other citizens.
“In reinforcing anti-corruption, university must retain its dignity as role model and teacher of the nation,” said Deputy Chairman of KPK.
After the scientific oration, there was a signing session for a collaboration between the secretary of Transparency International Indonesia (TII) Dadang Trisasongko, Executive Director of Internasional NGO Forum On Indonesia Development (INFID) Sugeng Bahagijo and UNAIR Rector. The collaboration is for system development to deal with conflict of interest in UNAIR.
Furthermore, UNAIR also expressed its appreciation to academicians and alumni with great achievements. There were some nominations, best lecture with achievements, coordinator of program with achievements, educational staff with achievements, student with achievements and alumni with achievements.
The alumni with achievements was given to Muchaiyan, alumnus of Faculty of Public Health (FKM) UNAIR. Prior to this achievement Muchaiyan succeeded to be National Best Medical staff with achievements 2016 from the Ministry of Health.
UNAIR Chairman of Board of Trustees Sudi Silalahi was also present in the assembly and hoped that UNAIR still be the place to educate academicians who will make great achievements in the future.(*)
