UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga students keep making achievements. This time, it was made by Cinematography UKM which won best inspiring film in Creative Indonesian Youth Short Film Festival 2016.

The film titled was Setetes Koin, it was about environment and set in three places in Surabaya and Sidoarjo. The short film festival was held by Ministry of Youth and Sports with creative Indonesian Youth to Answer Global Challenges as a theme.

The five students of UNAIR were Rizki Kurniawan mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Budaya (FIB) as the director, Lafreenda Tialoka Mitadiar (FIB) as the talent, Adam Arif Makarim (FIB) as the editor, Nindita Naisella (FIB) as artistic department, and Moch Ilham Prasetya (FST) as the talent.

The short films were shown in XXI Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Jakarta Pusat, Tuesday, November 1. To UNAIR NEWS, Rizki said that they have had obstacles in production of the film.

“At first, it was difficult to make ideas, with a deadline on October 20. A week before the contest we started filming. The crew was any people available and easygoing. We skipped some classes too,” said Rizki laughing.

The director also said that when the story was ready, pre-production was done only once. Before shooting started, pre-production should be done few times ideally. They need about three days for filming due to different locations.

The deadline was close, while we were editing the film which had taken a long time.

“At that time the deadline was only in a few hours. But Alhamdullillah it was done and made it,” he said.

The film then sent to the email. We never thought about it but we became the best 10.

“We were puzzled and surprised. We were then invited to Jakarta. There the best ten were shown. We were pessimistic as the other contestants’ were great. But when it was shown, we were happy as it was played, it means Setetes Koin was through. It was the first time in my life, I saw my own film in a big cinema like XXI. We usually just watch other people’s film,” said Rizki proudly.

To achieve the success, the process was not easy. Rizki also shared his experience with the crew when they had to hide from the security Guard of Graha Amerta to get the best angle. Because the process was complicated, Rizki and crew went up to unfinished building without a permission.

“During shooting, the bucket we used fell from the rooftop because of the wind. Imagine if it was lost, we wouldn’t have been able to continue the shooting. But fortunately we found it,” he said. (*)
