Leadership Crisis in Younger Generation

UNAIR NEWS – “Roles of Students in Dealing with Threats and Buildiing Nation Towards Golden Indonesia 2045” was the theme of the public lecture by the Commander of Military Staff and Command School (Dansesko TNI) Lieutenant General Agus Sutomo S.E., in Universitas Airlangga attended by about 300 students.

In the lecture held in Kahuripan Hall 300, Campus C UNAIR, Agus explained the importance of youngsters’ roles to welcome the century of the nation. In his opinion, youngsters’ roles are strategic to determine the glory of a nation.

“In a struggle towards Golden Indonesia 2045, the youngsters’ roles are very strategic,” said Agus in his presentation, on Monday, November 7.

Agus encouraged the audience to look back at the struggle history and the independence fought by the youngsters. The causes destructions of two big civilizations in the Archipelago (Sriwijaya and Majapahit) were leadership crisis and internal conflict. “This leadership crisis is one problem from the youngsters’ unreadiness,” he added.

Not only discussing the youngsters, Agus also discussed the global population growth. He believed that this rapid growth should be concerned more. It will affect to global energy availability.

“70 percent of global conflicts was caused by energy demands and it happens in countries with oil commodities,” he said. “Fossil fuels will run out and replaced by bio energy,” he added.

Bio energy and food and water availability in the future will be global attention. Agus Sutomo added that those new energy sources are in equator countries like Indonesia.

“Energy, food, clean water are now the focus of global leaders. It seems simple. Global conflicts now concentrated in oil producing countries. In the future, it could be our country,” he said. (*)
