UNAIR NEWS – Cangkrukan (javanese-ed) or known as hanging out together is often used as a way to strengthen ties among students. This time, Aquaculture program of PDD Universitas Airlangga in Banyuwangi modified cangkrukan activity as a way to motivate the students as shown on Friday, October 28.
According to Alfian Handiyanto Putra, 21, as the head of the committee, this Cangkrukan has been a routine agenda for the last two years. It is held to improve the students’ spirits also to welcome the freshmen.
“It is a program of PSDM division of Aquaculture Student Association held in a sharing discussion and relaxed manner on experience and motivation involving lecturers and all students of Fisheries and Marine in PDD BAnyuwangi,” added Alfian.
According to Hapsari Kenconojati, S.Si., M.Si., a lecturer supervising the student association, in the activity, vision and missions of aquaculture, future challenges and their targets are elaborated further there. It is held to introduce their program well and make them love it.
For Eva Wahyuni Pratiwi, 20, PSDM staff, this activity is unique as it gives rewards to students with uncommon nominations. It is done to make them feel ashamed and cause willingness to change. This nominations are for students who sleep during classes (KULTUR), students who only look for free wi-fi connection in campus (KUWI).
And then there is nomination for students who come late to classes (TELADAN), for students who go home after finishing their classes (KUPU) so they are not involved in any organizations, and the last is for students who often make a noise in classes (IWAK RAME).
“We hope that after we hold this activity, students can be closer with lecturers, also with fellow students. Not only that, I also hope that our friends can change after they are awarded for this peculiar nominations,” said Dani Taufik, the Head of Hima BP 2016.
Surely, Yunus Yovia R, 18, and Santika Dwi L,17, the participants of cangkrukan, believed that it was an interesting event and it could improve students’ motivation to study. The nominations were unique and they could be an unforgettable moments. They hoped that the event can be held more often, not only once a year, but twice in a semester. (*)
