Dozens Universities and Companies to Take Parts in IRIEX 2016 in UNAIR

UNAIR NEWS – Technical Meeting (TM) of Indonesia Research and Innovation Expo(IRIEX) 2016, was attended by almost a hundred participants. It was held in assembly room of LPPA-HKI, Kahuripan Second Floor Management Office Building on Wednesday, November 2. It was presided by the Head of Committee Prof. Dr. Suwarno, drh., M.Si., and discussed the regulations and rules regarding the annual event, this time it was held to celebrate 62nd Dies Natalis of Universitas Airlangga.

Indonesia Research and Innovation Expo (IRIEX) 2016 held by UNAIR will be held for three days on November 10-12, 2016. It will be held in Airlangga Convention Center Campus C UNAIR Jl. Dr. Ir. Soekarno, Mulyorejo, Surabaya. The technical meeting was attended by the Head of 62nd Dies Natalis Committee Prof. Dr. Tri Martiana, dr., MS.

From at least 70 stands prepared, all of them were taken. Among the participants, there are 18 universities participating, six of them were from outside East Java, Universitas Indonesia, Institut Pertanian Bogor, Universitas Jambi, Universitas Mataram, Universitas Tadulako, and Universitas Negeri Gorontalo.

Universities from East Java participating are Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November (ITS), Universitas Negeri Jember, Universitas Trunojoyo Madura, Universitas Brawijaya, Universitas Negeri Malang, Universitas Dr. Soetomo, Universitas Narotama, UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur, Universitas Negeri Surabaya, and Universitas Narotama. While UNAIR as the host appointed all faculties and some institutes to take parts in IRIEX 2016.

From non university, there are at least 16 institutions, such as pharmaceutical companies, beauty company, media company, regional administrations and UKMK of East Java. Some of governmental administrations are from Banyuwangi Agricultural Agency, Disperindag Sidoarjo, Disperindag Probolinggo, Level I Farming Agency, also Banyuwangi administrations.
”Universitas Negeri Jember and Pemkab Banyuwangi even asked three booths of exhibition, the others requested one or two booths,” said the committee.

Prof. Suwarno explained that by November 8, the participants have already unloaded their stuff, with permit from the committee. They are refrained from bringing dangerous things, such as firearms, knives, explosives or smelly objects. The committee has the right to confiscate their dangerous and disturbing to others.

”The participants get lunch, each stands got two meals. All areas are smoke-free area,” said Professor of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) UNAIR.

During IRIEX, there will be other activities like seminar, attractions, and competitions such as Animal Science Paper Competition for S-1 and D-3 students in Indonesian universities. This year the theme is “Contribution of Research on Veterinary Medicine Innovation and Animal Welfare to face Free Trade Area of the Asia Pasific (FTA-AP) 2020”.

Then there is a livestock, fish exhibition and herbal products innovation of Universitas Airlangga, especially crossbreeding SAFERA milk, pasteurization milk, yoghurt. Burcang, meat goat is also displayed. Fish and herbal products are expected from the stakeholders and UNAIR guidance. (*)
