Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony in Dies Natalis UNAIR

UNAIR NEWS – Celebration of 62nd Dies Natalis Universitas Airlangga is drawing near. In early November, some activities are scheduled to celebrate the anniversary of Universitas Airlangga which is officially celebrated on November 10, 2016. One of the activities is Khatam Al quran Ceremony.

As planned, UNAIR students who memorizes Al Quran will take parts in this event. Interviewed at work, Afri Andiarto, S.M., as the person in charge in the event held firstly for this Dies Natalis, said that it is to realize the motto of Universitas Airlangga, Excellence with Morality.

“Among Dies Natalis celebrations this year, religious activities are deliberately held. Why? Because we want to realize UNAIR motto and want to show that there is proof of it,” said Afri, who is also a staff of UNAIR Directorate of Human Affairs.

Aas planned it will be held in Ulul Azmi Mosque Campus C UNAIR on Thursday, October 3 after Ashr, and opened directly by UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Moh. Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., CMA.

On the first day, the ceremony will be held by reading every juz until 2200 local time, then will be continued on the second day, October 4. It will be closed with prayers led by KH. M. Ihya’ Ulumiddin, the head of Nurul Haromain Islamic boarding school, Pujon, Malang.

“Even though the ceremony was done by the Quran memorizers, general public and students can join in to listen,” said Afri.

The organization of this event, as explained by Afri, is the first step of Hifdzil Quran (HQ) UKM. He hoped that the academic climate in UNAIR is even more refreshing because of the event.

“Beside as a first step to HQ UKM establishment, hopefully the event which is firstly held can be our first step to realize Excellence with Morality, and bring coolness in our campus,” he said. (*)
