Dikti Reviewers Monitor and Evaluate 236 Researches of UNAIR

UNAIR NEWS – There were 236 researches being monitored and evaluated by six external reviewers appointed by General Directorate of Higher Education.

Overall result from the review, held for three days October 27-29, stated that most of the researches were good. It was stated by Prof. Dr. Ir. Salama Majang, M.T., IPM, one of the reviewers from Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas), Makassar, during his lunch break on Friday October 28.

“The result was good, it means that UNAIR lecturers’ motivation to conduct research was high. Outputs promised were almost all achieved, such as international publication, collaboration with foreign countries were quite many too,” said Prof. Salama.

There are some criteria of assessment from the reviewers, one of them was research development and output achieved. Every researcher who gets research funding from Dikti is obliged to report the proofs to support research development report.

“We assess on how far the research is. Different results depend on the challenges faced by every team of researchers. If they want to hold national or international seminar, have they done it or not yet. If they expect patent, is it achieved yet. What are the proofs,” said Prof. Salama.

From the assessment criteria, based on the reviews, most of the results were good. The assessment was given in four levels, bad, average, good and excellent.

The other reviewer was Prof. Dr. Ir. Herry Sonjaya, DEA., DES, who is also from Unhas. For input to all research review he performed for UNAIR researchers, he expected more quantity on multi-years research which ends downstream.

“It is better be multi-years, such as extracting plants or sea-organism. It is better to achieve not only extract but also the medicine so it can be used by society, downstreamed,” added Prof. Herry.

This monitoring and evaluation was held as the form of responsibility on the funding given to the academicians. Beside functioned as transparency and accountability, with the funding, it is hoped to improve the competitiveness of the nation.

“With these researches, there will be more papers in international or national accredited journals. If there are a lot of works, patents and intellectual rights, university’s rank in the world will be improved,” he added.


The Head of Institute of Research and Innovation Prof. Hery Purnobasuki, M.Si., Ph.D.,said that review process on research development was well managed compared to the previous years. It made UNAIR researchers, the participants, could interact conducively with the reviewers. (*)
