UNAIR NEWS – “Characteristics of Scaffold Bovine Hydroxyapatite Chitosan Gelatin to Viability and Bone Marrow Adhesion – Rat Mesenchymal Stem Cell”, is the thesis title of Nadia Kartikasari, M.Kes. The research made her be appointed as the best graduate of FKG master program Universitas Airlangga in September 2016 graduation.
The graduate with GPA 3.93 explained the loss of normal structure bone composition is still a big challenge in dentistry. Grafted material as the method implemented nowadays has a lot of flaws.
“Because of those flaws, tissue engineering is being developed. The main component used in the tissue engineering is scaffold. For my research, I used scaffold made of bovine hydroxyapatite made by Tissue Bank, RSUD Dr. Soetomo, combined with gelatin and chitosan,” said the woman keen on watching films and travelling.
Great time management in studying, did not affect her job. She had to do various activities like going to classes, practices and other things. “During study, I was busy at campus and practical site. I study in the morning and held practice in the evening,” she said.
Before being named as the best master graduate, she was also the best bachelor program graduate in FKG in 2013. She has been awarded scholarship to a student exchange program for 6 month in Hiroshima University, Japan.
Asked about her study, she said she got a lot of friends from different discipline in one class, such as hygienist, public health and general nurses. “Even though we have different disciplines we work well together and support each other,” she said.
Concern with KBBI Perfection
MEANWHILE, dictionary also has flaws. Those flaws are fixed through revisions worked on by editorial team, from time to time. It is because language changes over time.
It inspired Eri Susanto, M.Hum to conduct his research titled “Word Class Evaluation of Lema KBBI IV: Corpus Linguistic Study”. The result of the research made him the best graduate of master program Faculty of Humanities with GPA 3.86.
In his research, he tried to find lemas (word/phrase input in dictionary without definition) which develops in class word division in KBBI (Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia), and explained the effect of frequency of the word use and the development. During research, the man from Grobogan Central Java did not find any obstacles even though he used a lot of time and resources. He collected the data easily.
“The research demanded time and resources. The data collection was easy but the division and the next step, data analysis really gave pressure especially with the deadline. But the result was satisfying,” said the French learner in IFI Surabaya.
Eri hoped that his research can contribute to KBBI perfection, especially on word class. “Take lessons from the knowledge. Pay respect. Do as best as you can. Completed is better than perfect as perfection is actually the end,” he said. (*)
