UNAIR NEWS – There were 311 additional Bidikmisi students from independent channel selection Universitas Airlangga received and motivated by UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Moh. Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., CMA. in Kahuripan Hall on Tuesday, October 18.
In his motivating speech, Prof. Nasih invited the additional Bidikmisi students to always feel grateful as it is not easy for them to become UNAIR students, they had to compete with thousands of students across Indonesia.
“To get into UNAIR, you have to compete with thousands of applicants. So, all of you should feel grateful for being UNAIR students and awarded Bidikmisi too, it is an extraordinary blessing,” said Prof. Nasih.
In the middle of his speech, Prof. Nasih also talked about guardianship program. It will be supervised by UNAIR officials from the same senior high school the students came from.
“Guardianship program is not in the form financial aid, but more to supervision on the students’ mental development during college,” said Prof. Nasih.
Prof. Nasih, also asked them to develop a good academic climate. The professor of FEB UNAIR also emphasized their activeness in organizations or units they have interest in.
“I encourage you to be active in organizations and activity units which develop your talents and interest but always manage the time well,” he said.
One of the students in that occasion, Nurul Kurniasari said that she felt proud of her achievement. She was determined to study as best as she can, be active and make lots of achievements. For her, Bidikmisi scholarship is not only university’s trust but also the country’s.
“I am really happy, being accepted in UNAIR and got Bidikmisi, it can motivates me to study well with more spirits,” said the student from Indonesian Literature Department.
In the occasion, the technicalities of Bidikmisi management and its disbursement were explained by the directorate of student affairs and bank Mandiri as UNAIR partner. (*)
