UNAIR NEWS – There were 170 students of SMK Telkom, Banjarbaru South Kalimantan visiting UNAIR on Monday, October 17 to have recreation while learn something for their future. They were received by UNAIR team in Kahuripan Hall, Management Office Building, Campus C UNAIR. One of them was UNAIR Student Admission Center (PPMB) staff, Drs. Adri Supardi, MS.
”While we have the chance, we want to look for information for our students’ further studies, so we visited some possible universities to be visited,” said Drs. Sudarminto, the supervising teacher.
In their study tour to Java and Bali, 170 students participated. For time efficiency, four bus team divided into two, two buses went to Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember Surabaya (ITS) and the other two buses to UNAIR. The division was done based on their preference, because even though they are SMK students, many of them want to continue study out of their vocational field.
“Our students interested in continuing their studies in economics, law, social and politics. Not only vocational fields. The results of the visit will be reviewed,” said Sudarminto.
Beside visiting UNAIR and ITS, they also have recreation around Surabaya, they will continue to Malang the next day on Tuesday to visit Universitas Brawijaya. After visiting UB and having recreation in Malang, they will go to Denpasar Bali. Then they will go back to Banjarbaru after recreation by plane through Ngurah Rai Airport.
“It is costly, but the participants paid it. And we limited the number of participation, if not there would be more and it would be even more difficult to manage,” said Sudarminto.
The students and teachers asked various questions regarding the programs, the degree differences, how to choose the right departments and to compete, the competence of UNAIR graduates. All were answered satisfactorily by Drs. Adri Supardi, MS., a lecturer of Physics, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) UNAIR. (*)
