UNAIR NEWS – In 2015, students from SMAN 2 Surabaya was the third for most students admitted in UNAIR through SNMPTN while through SBMPTN was the first with 54 students. The number was deemed high as there were thousands of senior high school students registering to UNAIR.
Nevertheless, SMAN 2 Surabaya always pushes their students to join the competition to get into UNAIR. On Thursday, September 29, there were 320 students and supervising teacher visited UNAIR. It was received directly by Information and Public Relations Center (PIH) UNAIR in the lobby of Management Office Building Campus C UNAIR.
Dra. Kurnia Agustini., M.Psi as the public relations of SMAN 2 Surabaya said that the visit was to introduce their students to the academic life of university. So they will be motivated to improve their marks at schools. The visit was done by Class XI students which have been at school for two semesters. Fir the occasion, Kurnia said that almost 75% of SMA N 2 Surabaya graduates continued study in UNAIR.
“First, we wanted to motivate the students so they know early on the requirements to get into state university or faculty. They are in class XI, evaluated for two semesters so far. There are three more semesters for them to improve their marks,” said Kurnia.
In the occasion, Drs. Bambang Edi Santoso as the staff of PIH UNAIR presented information on UNAIR. It covered the history, facilities, programs and specification of interest in UNAIR. While Imam Siswanto, M.Si., as the representative of Student Admission Center (PPMB) explained everything about the channels and procedures of admission to UNAIR.
Allysha Tifara Fatima, a student of class XI SMAN 2 Surabaya was enthusiastic with the visit. She asked a lot on the double degree program in UNAIR. To UNAIR NEWS she conveyed that she wants to study in Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH).
“I want to get into FKH as I am always interested in animals. But I don’t know yet about the learning process and the profession later,” said Allysha.
Nevertheless, she expressed gratitude to all elements which support the visit as through the visit, she knew the learning process of UNAIR, even though they did not visit the faculties or departments to see the learning process directly. (*)
