UNAIR NEWS – Janis Rosalitas Supriyanto, a diver represented East Java in National Games (PON) XIX has succeeded in getting three gold medals in diving events. Janis got gold for women 100 m surface, 200 meter surface and women 4×100. The event was held in Catherine Surya pool, Cirebon on Sunday, September 18. Janis even made a new record for women 100 meter surface and 200 meter surface with 40.35 seconds and 1 minute 31.24 seconds.
The student of English Literature, Faculty of Humanities Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) said that she has been interested with swimming since she was 7 years old. She has been a member of a swimming club in Surabaya.
“When I was 10, I moved from swimming to diving or finswimming,” said Janis on her interests to swimming and diving since she was a child.
In the same kind of sports, Dio Novandra Wibawa, a student of Faculty of Law (FH) UNAIR also succeeded in getting a gold from men 100 meter surface and one silver for men 200 meter surface for East Java. Dio, made a record of 37.72 seconds for 100 meter surface and 1 minute 29 seconds for men 200 meter surface.
Based on the information gathered by UNAIR NEWS, the team champion for diving was Jawa Timur with 10 gold, 9 silver and 5 bronze. (*)
