UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga is often visited by students and teachers of senior high schools. The objective is to get information on university admission and its campus life in UNAIR.

On Tuesday, September 27, there were 223 class XII of Madrasah Aliyah Unggulan Amanatul Ummah, Mojokerto, and 20 supervising teachers visiting UNAIR. The group from Amanatul Ummah was received in Garuda Mukti, Management Office Building UNAIR.  According Mujiono, their visit to UNAIR was to get information on one of favorite universities in Indonesia.

“We’d like to say thank you for the opportunity given to come here. I am happy with the great reception from UNAIR. This visit was done so the students know UNAIR more and to motivate them to follow their seniors already in UNAIR. So they were excited as we announced the visit,” said Mujiono.

In the visit, Secretary of Information and Public Relations Center (PIH) UNAIR Dr. Eduardus Bimo, drh., M.Kes, gave them general information on UNAIR, from the history, location, faculties, dormitories, and many more. Beside facilities, Bimo also elaborated about the student clubs (UKM). Bimo emphasized that UNAIR graduates must have non-technical skills.

“UNAIR graduates must be different from others. Therefore, in UNAIR, they must have softskills. They can be acquired in a form of achievement credit points (SKP). If the bachelor student collected 100 points and the three year program students collected 75 points, they would receive two transcripts during graduation, one is for the softskill and one for their GPA,” explained Bimo.

Beside Bimo, there was also a presentation by representative of Student Admission Center (PPMB) Imam Siswanto. Imam explained from the channels to get into UNAIR, quotas, selection process to the tuition fees. “Studying in UNAIR is not expensive, depends on the parents’ salary. Some pay only Rp. 500 thousand each semester, so at least each month only Rp 90 thousand. Some pays million for it. All depend on the parents’ salary,” Imam said. (*)
