UNAIR NEWS – Being graduated with the loved ones will bring more joys.  Dr. Dedy Syahrizal, dr., M.Kes., as the best graduate of doctoral program Faculty of Medicine (FK) felt that way. He was graduated with his wife this September.

Insya Allah we will be graduated together. It’s pleasing that we can bring up our son born when we started our study in UNAIR. I could not believe it, but Alhamdulillah we made it,” said Dedy gratefully to UNAIR NEWS.

In FK, Dedi took Basic Medicine while his wife took Hyperbaric and Diving Medicine. With his wife,  Cut Mustika, dr., M.Si, in 2015,  they were in a team which got appreciation from Ministry of Health on Medical Technology and Health Developmental Research program.

The biochemistry lecturer in Universitas Syiah Kuala, Aceh, succeeded in getting achievement on his research titled”Pengaruh Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy terhadap Regulasi Endothelial Progenitor Cell pada Mencit Model Endometriosis”.

When he finished his doctoral study, Dedy achieved GPA 3.97. He succeeded in defending his dissertation titled ”Progressivity Mechanism of Distress Endometriosis Tissue Through Interaction of MIF, HSP70, Akt, c-Myc and CD44 in Mesenchymal Stem Cell: A Psychoneuroimmunology’s Approach of Stem Cells in Endometriosis Modelled Mice”.

In his research, Dedy studied the distress factor on endometriosis illness. He studied the endometriosis network progressivity in patients with distress. According to him, the patients mostly feel distress because of clinical symptom they experience and also from the risk of infertility of the disease especially, it is deteriorated by the situation that as of now the medical treatment on endometriosis is still symptomatic and not causative.

”So, endometriosis patients have lower quality of life because of their illness or due to the distress experienced. I thought if distressing factor can be handled, then psychologically patients will feel more comfortable, and molecular endometriosis network can be suppressed,” said Dedy. (*)
