UNAIR NEWS – In the middle of last August, Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education released the list of university ranking based on their research performance. In the list, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) was at the sixth from all 25 universities in independent cluster. It was an improvement from last year research performance. In 2014, UNAIR was at the eleventh from 14 universities.
It was stated by the Head of Research and Innovation Institute (LPI) UNAIR Prof. Hery Purnobasuki, M.Si., Ph.D., during interview with UNAIR NEWS. Regarding the improvement, Prof. Hery said that he and his team have collected any researches performed by lecturers and students.
The researches recorded in this year’s research performance reached 720 publications. The publications are researches published in national accredited journals and international reputable journals.
According to Prof. Hery, to improve research publications, integrated data input system of faculties or university should be developed. It means that research data input of researchers can be accessed by faculty or university so the research publication data can be reported completely to Dikti.
“Reinforcement of research performance data should be followed with input system developed from faculties, such as through updates in cybercampus. So the management can monitor the system, on how many publications and who have published this year,” he said.
Independent cluster is the highest level of research cluster organized by Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education. Beside the independent cluster, there are supported, average and main clusters.
The other indicators assessed in research performance data were the fund of Directorate of Research and Community Service (Ditlitabmas), non-Ditlitabmas fund, intellectual property rights, scientific forum participants, university lecturers, foreign researchers, supporting units and staff and research product business unit.
