UNAIR NEWS – UNAIR academicians are in deep sorrow. Dean of FISIP for term 1988-1991 and 1991-1995, Drs. Johanes Dwi Narwoko, MA,. passed away at 74 years of age on Monday September 12. Before being laid to rest at Keputih grave yard, memorial service was held on Wednesday, September 14 to honor the deceased one last time.
As his best friend in life, Drs. Herwanto, MA illustrated that Dwi Narwoko was a modest individual who always had discipline. “As his friend, I beg forgiveness if he had made mistakes. He was a modest person but he had discipline,” he recalled during his speech.
UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Moh. Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., CMA., who was also present during memorial service said that the deceased was one of the best academicians UNAIR ever had, especially for FISIP. The deceased Dwi Narwoko had also been the head of Department of Sociology FISIP UNAIR from 2004 to 2008 and he had served UNAIR for 35 years old.
“Pak Dwi was one of the best UNAIR acamicians. Almost half of his life was spent to serve UNAIR in Sociology program. He was also one of the pioneers and founders of FISIP,” said Prof. Nasih. “Therefore, on behalf of all academicians I would like to express our condolences,” he added.
Prof. Nasih also recalled the deceased for having great spirits to develop and improve FISIP UNAIR. He was not a person who prioritized his personal interest. “He often sacrificed for the faculty than lived from it, he was not a selfish individual,” he recalled. “There are not many people with his character,” he added.
“Farewell my teacher, my senior and my brother. May your dedication be an excellent example for us all,” said Prof. Nasih. (*)
