UNAIR NEWS – Information technology development has great role on supply chain management. The role has created new concept called sharing economy. As proofs, there are many product innovations, including applications which involve many elements in order to deliver the products to customers such as Go-jek.
Nanda Ekaputri Panjiarga as representative of Marketing and Business Development Go-Box of Go-jek, said that current technological advancement and sharing economy concept are Go-Jek success’ recipe. Sharing economy concept Go-Jek offers is by involving the public as partners with their vehicle possession. The benefit, Go-Jek does not have to procure their own vehicles and only relies on technology.
“With sharing economy, Go-Jek does not need to provide assets as they all belong to Go-Jek partners. Go-Jek functions as shortcut to arrange the service provider to the customers,” said Nanda, on Wednesday, Septermber 7, in a national seminar, “Sharing Economy and What It Means for Supply Chain Management”.
The seminar was held by Information System bachelor program, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) with Career and Entrepreneurship Development Center (PPKK) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR). It was held in Garuda Mukti Hall and attended by Deputy of Business School Program, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia, Nanda of Go-Jek, Hapsara as Regional Account Manager Telkomsel, and Ira Puspitasari, Ph.D, as lecturer of SI FST UNAIR.
Supply chain management is defined as activity related to transformation and distribution of goods starting from its raw material processing of the supplier, operational activities, distribution and delivery to customers.
Ferry explained that strategies on supply chain management can reinforce the country to develop its gross capital income. He also said that there are many researches to develop to learn the strategies of supply chain management. Beside Ferry, Hapsara also explained the role of information connectivity related to supply chain management, to accelerate the process of information to the customers.
To face the challenges of information technology on supply chain management, Ira said that students must be open with latest topic like sharing economy. “In the future, we want to keep expanding students’ insight on the latest topic which can be brought to academic community, such as topics for final assignments. Sharing economy or supply chain management still can be developed further for learning,”said Ira.
