UNAIR NEWS – The event of Emtek Goes to Campus (EGTC) was held in Airlangga Convention Center on Wednesday September 7 ran well. It was opened by Campus Performing Art and a stand up Comedy performance, attended by more than 1500 people. It will be held for two days with many workshops such as digital journalism Liputan6.com, bintang .com, and vidio.com. Furthermore, the participants were educated on news presenting by SCTV and Indosiar presenters.
Senior anchor of SCTV Retno Pinasti was present to share some stories on her journalism experience. Retno succeeded to be an anchor through first batch of SCTV Goes to Campus in 1997.
“I am the first batch, it used to be called SCTV Goes to Campus. It was held in 1997. This kind of events indeed has produced many great anchors,” she said.
Different with Retno, Ryan Wiedaryanto who is also a senior anchor in the same TV station, shared his experience when he started his journalism career. He said that at first he did not enjoy this broadcasting world as for him it was monotonous and boring.
“I used to think that being an anchor was not exciting with stiff style of speaking, but fate showed him otherwise. When I was just participating out of whim, I was accepted. It is an interesting profession as we could meet a lot of inspiring national figures,” he said.
After sharing session with senior presenters, Vice Rector IV UNAIR, Junadi Khatib, Ph.D, was present to give his remarks. Junaidi said that these kind of events are parts of learning. He encouraged the students to have faith on a process towards success in the future.
“To be successful can’t be instant, a lot of works and process are necessary and have faith that success refers to progress or phases you have been through,” he said.
In the end of EGTC, there was an inspiring talk show with Mayor of Surabaya Ir. Tri Rismaharini. In her motivating speech, the first female mayor encouraged the audience to work hard for their dreams.
“Don’t give up on your dreams. Keep working hard to achieve it. It is my principle to mark Surabaya on the world map. All cities are indeed on the map but the bright ones are the ones noticed,” said Risma.
EGTC event last for two days until Thursday, September 8. On the second day, there will be workshop with Karir.com, grand final round of news presenting competition, film and acting workshop with the actors and actress of Para Pencari Tuhan, Ihsan Tarore’s performance, and a talk show with Inul Daratista and Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi.
