FK UNAIR Encourages Public to Live Healthily through Fun Bike

UNAIR NEWS – “Gowes Bareng Civitas Akademika FK UNAIR (FK UNAIR Fun Bike)” held by FK UNAIR with the medical staff of hospitals in Surabaya ran lively. Hundreds of doctors with their suits as doctors such as practice uniform, work uniform, operating theater uniform and Javanese doctor uniform were ready for the fun bike. It was started from FK UNAIR front yard on Sunday, September 4.

This fun bike activity was also held at the same time of Indonesian Health Community (Koseindo) induction and opened by the Dean of FK UNAIR Prof. Soetojo, dr., Sp.U. In his address the dean hoped that people were even more aware of healthy lifestyle through cycling. Some posters distributed hopefully gave insight and picture to the public.

“Through this activity, I encourage the students and lecturers to go cycling. It is also held to support Surabaya’s government to create clean and green environment. SO if the environment healthy, the people will also be healthy,” said Prof. Soetojo.

The mayor of Surabaya Ir. Tri Risma Harini was also present. She also sent off the bikers. The first female mayor also said some things on cycling to the participants. She shared some story when she was just reminded by the foreign guests on the eating habit of the citizens who are accustomed to delicious meals, so it would only normal if it is followed by healthy custom, One of them was riding bicycles.

“I am happy for this event. It was only yesterday when I was reminded by a foreigner that food in Surabaya is delicious and it will trigger diabetes,” said Risma followed with an applause.

“I want to salute FK UNAIR and Koseindo who have initiated the public to be healthy through going cycleing. If the public was given examples by the expert, they will agree.. Hopefully it can be a lifestyle,” said Risma.

The route was from FK UNAIR, through main roads and historical places in Surabaya, and ended in FK UNAIR. Beside going cycling, after reaching finish lines the participants were entertained with musical performance and door prizes. (*)
