UNAIR NEWS – The closing ceremony of PPKMB Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) ran lively. It was attended by all UNAIR freshmen from bachelor degree and vocational program. The event held in Airlangga Convention Center was attended by Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs Khofifah Indar Parawansa who was present as UNAIR alumnus to motivate the freshmen.
When they sang along Airlangga Hymn chorally, Khofifah shed her tears. It was stated by UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. M. Nasih, S.E., M.T., Ak, who was standing right next to Khofifah.
“I heard it, when she was singing Airlangga Hymn, she shed her tears. Recalling the moment in 1984, she ssang the same song in UNAIR,” said UNAIR Rector in his official address.
In his address, UNAIR Rector encouraged students to hold firm the motto, excellence with morality. “The keys are discipline and obeying all the rules. Take good examples from our alumni,” said Prof. Nasih.
Khofifah said that to build strong collaboration networking either in friendship or university is important. “The soul of university is the sowing among universities, programs, students and lecturers and the networking is our shared task,” said the alumnus of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UNAIR.
In the interview, Khofifah was grateful that she could meet and motivate the freshmen. She emphasized the importance of expanding network between the university and its alumni.
“As the alumnus of FISIP, I am grateful. Alhamdulillah hopefully I could share what I have and what I got. Now I’m meeting the freshmen. There is something we can build together, motivation we can share and spirit to do the best for the nation. That is what we need to sow on and on,” said Khofifah.
In the interview, the woman born on May 1965 expected the synergy between alumni and university to be improved.
“UNAIR has alumni with great scope of professions, from the regional, national or even international. Synergy between alumni and university should be improved even better so UNAIR presence among universities in Indonesia or other countries can provide the best service for any efforts made in the developmental process,” said Khofifah.
Khofifah also encouraged the freshmen to follow the alumni footsteps to success and contribute in the development. “I hope that Ksatria Airlangga can be a part which make strategic policy in the nation,” said Khofifah. (*)
