UNAIR NEWS – There were five divisions of 37 Student Activity Units (UKM) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) participated in Display UKM 2016 in Student Center UNAIR on 29-30 August 2016. The organization was themed “Panca Tirta” as it was organized in August when the festivity of Independence Day is still in the air.

Panca Tirta was from the word ‘Panca’ which means five and the number of divisions in UKM UNAIR and the word “Tirta” which means water. “Panca Tirta” illustrates that the spirit and achievement given by the five divisions of 37 UKM UNAIR always flows for UNAIR.

The event was opened by the Director of Student Affairs UNAIR, Dr. M. Hadi Subhan, SH., MH., CN by sounding a gong. The atmosphere then turned livelier as gamelan performance of Indonesian Traditional Dance and Music (UKTK) and Orchestra UKM as the opening performances. After that, Karate, Ju jitsu, Wanala, Islamic Religious, Theater, UKTK, Taekwondo, and UA Choir (PSUA) UKM performed their club activities.

Excellent agility of martial arts division, the praising chants to God of UKMKI UNAIR, beautiful dance of UKTK and acting performance of Theater UKM and beautiful voice of PSUA  also attractive WANALA performance made the event even more livelier.

There was more noise as WANALA UKM performed, they showed a flying fox performance from the third floor of Student Center (SC) to the ground stage.

It was a surprising performance and the students even more enthusiastic. With safe self protection equipment (APD), two freshmen, Ahsan (Faculty of Economics and Business) and Dewi (Faculty of Nursing) tried the equipment, assisted by Wanala members.

“It was a zip-line. It is used to provide bridging rescue. We hang on the rope and rely on the arm strength,” said  Fresta Yuanita member of Wanala UNAIR in rock climbing division.

First day of UKM display was attended by at least 3,400 freshmen. It will be held for two days on Monday and Tuesday (August 29-30). (*)
