First in UNAIR, Sharing Knowledge with Three Professors At Once

UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga has its own way to attract the public to have discussion in a scientific form. This time, UNAIR’s professors are invited to share their expertise on a certain topic.

The event called “Professors’ Innovation Exposition” was held for the first time by UNAIR. According to Badri Munir Sukoco, Ph. D, as the head of Planning and Development Board (BPP), the innovation exposition is held to showed the experts’ concern to the problems in the society.

Beside showing their expertise, the event is expected to improve the research climate among the academicians. “Hopefully, the professors will even more often to share their thought on media popular,” said Badri.

The event is planned to be held once in every month. In each forum UNAIR will present three professors to discuss interesting topics. It means, there will be 36 professors who will share their views on some problem. In UNAIR, there are about 189 active professors in teaching, research and community service.

The opening topic this time is “Stem Cell: Harapan untuk Kehidupan yang Lebih Baik (Hope to Better Life)”. The talkshow will be held on Wednesday, August 31 from 9.30 to 13.00 in Kahuripan Hall 300 Campus C UNAIR.

In this talkshow, there will be three professors as speakers, Prof. Dr. Fedik Abdul Rantam, drh, (Faculty of Veterinary Medicine ), Prof. Dr. Nasronudin, dr., Sp.PD., K-PTI., FINASIM (Faculty of Medicine ), and Prof. Dr. Bambang Tjahjadi, S.E., MBA., Ak (Faculty of Economics and Business).

The three of them will discuss topic on stem cell from different point of views. Prof. Fedik will discuss the ongoing stem research stem cell in UNAIR, while Prof. Nasron will discuss on the application of the stem cell research in hospitals. From the economic point of views, Prof. Bambang will elaborate his view on stem cell management and product innovation opportunity.

As planned, the first talk show will be attended by many parties from researchers of UNAIR Stem Cell Development and Research Center, lecturers and clinical staff of hospitals.

In the event, every professor will present their view for thirty minutes each. After that, there will be a discussion session between the speakers and the audience for an hour. In the last thirty minutes, there will be a session for recommendation to the policy makers which can be published in the mass media.

“Through this event, public will see UNAIR’s concern to the nation, and the professors will even focus more to their scientific activities. The main objective of university’s existence is advancing the society. So presentation of the professor can make better society as well as improving UNAIR reputation,” said the head of BPP. (*)
