UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga affirmed its three new professors on Saturday, August 27. They are Prof. Dra. Myrtati Dyah Artaria, M.A., Ph.D as Professor on Anthropology, Prof. Dr. drh. Suherni Susilowati, M.Kes as Professor on Artificial Insemination, and Prof. Dr. I Komang Wiarsa Sardjana, drh., as Professor on Internal Medicine and Veterinary Surgery.
The ceremony was held in Garuda Mukti Hall, Management Office Building Campus C UNAIR, attended by Chairman and members of Academic Senate, professors, university, faculty, postgraduate schools’ officials, directors of directorates, institutes, boards and lecturers also staff of UNAIR.
Since UNAIR establishment in 1954, they are affirmed as 450th, 451st, and 452nd professors. But since UNAIR got its status as State University Acting as Legal Entity, they are affirmed as 158th, 159th and 160th.
In the occasion, Prof. Myrtati presented her scientific oration titled “Identifikasi Individu Tak Beridentitas di Indonesia (Identification of Unknown Individuals in Indonesia)”, Prof. Suherni presented “Potensi Frozen Semen pada Kawin Suntik Kambing sebagai Upaya Memenuhi Kebutuhan Protein Hewani (Frozen Semen Potential on Goat Artificial Insemination as Effort to Fulfill Animal Protein Need)” and Prof. Komang presented “Menuju Swasembada Daging di Indonesia dengan Tes Progesteron Paper Strip (Towards Indonesian Food Security with Paper Strip progesterone Test)”.
In his official address, UNAIR Rector said that these three professors affirmation improved the quality of human resources and the scope of science.
“The three scientific orations are academic works in Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR). As scientific works, they can be used for many purposes such as references for other academicians,” said Prof. Nasih.
Furthermore, Prof. Nasih also hoped that teaching farm as one of the veterinary laboratory UNAIR has can be increased. Currently, one of the teaching farms of UNAIR can be found in Driyorejo, Gresik.
“One thing we will always push is the existing teaching farm, the laboratory for FKH UNAIR to create food security,” said UNAIR Rector.
In the occasion, Prof. Komang recommended two things to UNAIR and the Provincial government of East java. First, practical education activity on big animals especially cows and horses is needed in UNAIR. The target is to produce capable veterinarians to handle problems in the field. While for Pemprov Jatim, more Animal Health Posts are needed in regions especially in community farming centres. It is to support the meat security program.
The professors’ affirmation was also attended by Wardiman Djojonegoro, Ministrer of Education and Culture in 1993, some honorary guests also officials in East Java. (*)
