UNAIR NEWS – Jefferson Caesario’s success to get a bronze in International Mathematics Competition (IMC) in Bulgaria on July 24-31, 2016, showed that UNAIR students have excellence in many fields. There was a suggestion from UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. H. Mohammad Nasih, MT., SE., Ak, CMA., to establish special team for special projects.

Interviewed by UNAIR NEWS on Wednesday August 24, Prof. Nasih said that some university has electric car project, energy saving car project, and all. UNAIR which has great potentials can also establish these kinds of teams as long as they have a clear goal.

“For example, students were selected for a nanotechnology project. They were comprised of students from various faculties. The team must be inter disciplinary so the product can have more comprehensive benefits,” said the professor of Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB).

He said that UNAIR has a lot of researchers and thinkers tested at national and international level. Even the students have international achievements. The fact showed that from human resources, UNAIR has no problems. They just need to study, what project they want to study, also adjust it with their capability.

Moreover, learning and research facility in UNAIR is also modern. Laboratories have sophisticated equipments. They are fundamental element for the plan. “Later the teams will be coordinated by Directorate of Student Affairs,” said Prof. Nasih.

Hopefully, with this idea, UNAIR can contribute more to the academic community and the society. University is not an ivory tower with grandeur from outside but it can reach greater elements of the public. (*)
