Museum Caffe FK UNAIR Open, Menu with Medical Terms

UNAIR NEWS – Academic Business Unit of Faculty of Medicine (FK) has added new outlet. After they have post office, ATM center, Medicine Caffe and Kafe Tennis,now the newly established outlet by Dean of FK UNAIR was Museum Caffe.

Dean of FK UNAIR Prof. Dr. Soetojo, dr., Sp.U(K) officially opened the relaxing lunch area on Sunday, August 21 together with the calisthenics and fun walk of FK UNAIR. The café is located in the room at the front of the building before the entry point of Museum FK UNAIR. It is exactly in the right corner of  FK building Jl. Prof. Dr. Moestopo 47 Surabaya. The building which was the old building of Netherlands Indische Artsen School (NIAS) has been appointed as Heritage spot of Surabaya.

”Medical Museum FK UNAIR has been visited by international and domestic tourists, so that’s why we provide this relaxing point to make it even more comfortable,” said Prof. Soetojo during the opening ceremony.

There are dining tables and chairs in the terrace of the café with wifi connection. Dean hoped that it can be used at best by the visitors, lecturers, students and staff to relax during lunchtime or to study and to have a discussion.

Head of Academic Business Unit (SUA) FK UNAIR,  dr. Lynda Hariani, Sp.BP-RE explained that the café opens in the morning and closes in the afternoon (work hours). The decoration theme was medicine so it was full of things found in medical area.

Such as a decoration from a nose anatomical part of people who have been operated in Reconstructive and Esthetic Plastic Surgery RSUD Dr. Soetomo/FK UNAIR or dozens of stethoscopes which are not used anymore and now used as decoration of the ceiling.

”But those 20cc disposable syringes are new because if they are used stuff, there will be risks of germs and all, so beside dangerous, it brings bad image. So those all syringers are new,” said dr. Lynda, while pointing to decoration in the café table.

The menu of the “Museum Caffe”  for served food was using medical terms such as Poliappendix or noodles, hemorraghyc villous (spaghetti),risoleus (risoles), Fat Layer Fancy (macaroni schotel). And the drinks, there are tea and coffee, also plasma infussion (plasma fruit ice), Lactotea Mixtura Drink (milk tea), and Healthy Bloody Mary(tomato juice). (*)
