UNAIR NEWS – Before starting their learning process, students usually get orientation on their school’s life. It also happens in Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR). The freshmen have orientation about campus life before they start their learning.
Orientation in UNAIR is packaged in Freshmen Togetherness Development Program (PPKMB). PPKMB UNAIR was held on Friday, August 19 and Monday, August 22 simultaneously in all faculties of UNAIR, including in Faculty of Law UNAIR.
In the occasion, the freshmen were briefed by four lecturers of FH UNAIR. Various topics were presented, from UNAIR logo, to tips and tricks to be excellent students.
Ekawestri Prajwalita Widiati, SH., LL.M, a lecturer of UNAIR Administrative Law Department, presented a topic on students’ lives in UNAIR Campus. The freshmen showed their enthusiasm as Wiwid, she better known as, presented topics on scholarships, how to apply for them and percentages of faculties with students who got scholarships.
“It was exciting, the presentation was relaxed, and there were a lot of new information on UNAIR which I have not yet known before,” said Caca, one of the freshmen from Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNAIR.
The objectives of this PPKMB is not only to know students from the same faculty or department but also inter-faculty. Through PPKMB, freshmen will interact with other students from other departments. Furthermore, to make the freshmen understand and adapt with the new learning environment.
“PPKMB is great. We, freshmen, can meet other students from different faculties. So, we do not only know friends from the same faculty,” said Alifirman, one of the freshmen from Faculty of Vocations (FV).
PPKMB is a compulsory program of the university. After taking part in PPKMB, freshmen will get certificates with some points pre-determined by UNAIR. The certificate will be one of the requirements for graduation later. Therefore, if students cannot participate, they will have to participate in next year’s PPKMB. (*)
