UNAIR NEWS – UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. M. Nasih, S.E., M.T., Ak., has affirmed 6726 bachelor and vocational freshmen. It was held in Airlangga Convention Center on Thursday August 18 and attended by all new freshmen and officials of university.
The 6726 students were admitted through SNMPTN, SBMPTN, and independent channel. There were 374 students of Faculty of Medicine (FK), 162 students of Faculty of Dentistry (FKG), 241 students of Faculty of Law (FH), 1208 students of Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), 231 students of Faculty of Pharmacy (FF), 696 students of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), 481 students of Faculty of Public Health (FKM) , 327 students of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) , 635 students of Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), 491 students of Faculty of Humanities (FIB), 213 students of Facuty of Psychology (FPsi), 236 students of Faculty of Nursing (FKep), 311 students of Faculty of Fisheries and Marine (FPK) and 1147 students of Faculty of Vocations (FV).
From the total freshmen, there were 21 foreign students. They took Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Veterinary Medicine.
In his address, UNAIR Rector said that the affirmation was a process of a new phase of their life as lelarning at college and at school are two different things.
“At college, the learning process happens every day. Objective and orientation of all activities are for learning. Learning is not tied to time, place, teacher or lecturer. It can be anywhere and anytime,” said the professor of Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNAIR.
During interview, UNAIR Rector said that he will support more activities of students which are integrated with the curriculum. Therefore, he expected that there will be improvements on the students’ achievements.
“In the future, we will integrate learning process in the curriculum with the extracurricular activities. So, activities like reasoning, HIMA, or activities focus on research will be supported. UKM which supports the curricular activities will be supported. So there will be more activities,” said Prof. Nasih.
Head of Student Executive Board (BEM) UNAIR M. Rizky Fadilah in his address also encouraged the freshmen to use their time as best as they can during the study in campus.
“Use opportunity at best as you can to hone your softskills or hardskills,” he said.
There was a stadium generale in this freshmen affirmation by UNAIR alumnus of 1982 Ignasius Jonan. Jonan motivated the student to use their time wisely. (*)
