Dirmawa UNAIR Supports Students Despite Being in Third Place in 29th Pimnas

UNAIR NEWS – Director of Student Affairs (Dirmawa ) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) Dr. M. Hadi Subhan, SH., MH., CN., will maintain and supports UNAIR students. It was stated after the end of 29th Student National Science Week (PIMNAS) in 2016 in Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), which UNAIR finished in the third place from 145 universities in PIMNAS.

”Even though we only finished third, but still the contingent is the champion,” said the man known well as Pak Hadi, through a megaphone in front of hundreds of UNAIR students in Graha Widya Wisuda (GWW) IPB.

As published before, as the results of the competition were being announced on Thursday, August 11, UNAIR PIMNAS team got a boost of support from 50 students of UNAIR as supporters. They came to Bogor by bus. As they arrived in IPB, they joined Students Creativity Program (PKM) teams and started cheering.

To motivate the students, Dirmawa also encouraged the students to be grateful for any results they got despite had and long preparation made from any elements.

”We have done our best, and we have left it to fate, and these are the results we need to be grateful,” said Dr. Hadi Subhan, the labour law expert of UNAIR.

In 29th PIMNAS, UNAIR finished third after Universitas Brawijaya (UB) and runner-up Universitas Gajah Mada (UGM). The best three have shown their great competitiveness.

UB, as the reigning champion of 28th PIMNAS, participated with 31 PKM teams, got 10 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 6 bronze medals (10–7-6). UGM as the runner up with 34 teams, the biggest contingent in the competition, got 9 gold medals, 6 silver medals, and 6 bronze medals (9-6-6). While UNAIR with only 21 PKM teams got 8 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 2 bronze medals (8-3-2). The forth place was ITS with medals composition 4-5-2 and ITB with 1-1-4 in the fifth place.

Special to PKM presentation category, the main category, UNAIR achievement’s is slightly better than UGM. UNAIR got 5 gold medals and 3 silvers while UGM got 5 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 3 bronze medals. UNAIR was better with more silver medals and the champion is still UB with 6 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 2 bronze medals.

The head of the UNAIR Pimnas contingent, Agus Widyantoro, SH., MH., during the trip from Bogor to Surabaya, expressed his deep gratitude to all participations of students, PKM supervising lecturers, ‘Garuda Sakti’ team which provides guidance, staff and also supporting students.

“We have done everything we can. For the composition of participating PKM teams and results achieved, UNAIR has achieved competitive results. If only we had participated with even number of PKM students, the results would have been different. But whatever the results, let us feel grateful,” said Agus Widyantoro. (*)
