UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Moh. Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., MCA., explained to the press that new admission through Bidikmisi does not become the university students because the quota of independent admission is increased from the previous year.

Beside accepting Bidikmisi freshmen, UNAIR also accepted 30 freshmen from 3T areas (outermost, remote, disadvantaged). 24 of them were from Papua and West Papua, and two of them were from East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
