Bone and Nervous Examination of Firda

Alfafirdausyah, 4, is in constant care of the doctors. Not only dermatologist and gynecologist who treat the girl with  xeroderma pigmentosum. The pediatrician also checks her condition. According to UNAIR alumnus, dr. Irmadita Citrashanty, SpKK,  Alfafirdausiyah or known as Firda has been observed by a specialist. The girl from Pamekasan was examined by a doctor specialized on child growth last Friday. Monday July 25, follow up was made by pediatrics division. It examined the girl’s bone age and complete blood test. Firda was consulted to an ophthalmologist but unfortunately she could not cooperate and did not want to open her eyes. Irmadita consulted to ophthalmologist on how to examine Firda’s eyes. Anesthetics might be needed to calm the girl’s down.

Independent Admission Quota Added 177 More

The number of students which passed the selection of UNAIR independent admission will increase from the previous plan because there are 177 applicants who do not complete the reregistration. Total, there are 2,047 students which were accepted from the independent admission. The previous quota was  1,840 seats. The Director of Education UNAIR, Prof. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih said that before announcing the entrance test result, high officials will have an internal meeting. He also said that after the result was announced, the applicants who were selected and passed must immediately complete the documents and register online on August 2-3, 2016.

In modern era, people are expected to be quick. We often neglect our own needs. Life pattern becomes irregular and far from healthy life style. Therefore many youngsters suffer from serious illness, such as diabetes mellitus (DM). Referring to Basic Health Research 2017 report, about 10 million population suffer from DM. Most of them are in the productive age range. The disease affect insulin hormone in the body. It causes glucose in blood uncontrollable. According to Prof. Dr. fr. Askandar Tjokroprawiro, SpPD., K-EMD, of UNAIR,bad immune system affect other organs such as kidneys, lungs, and liver. Nevertheless, the Head of Diabetes and Nutrition Center Surabaya (PDNS) said that the diabetic do not have to worry as they still can do their routines as usual.

Broken Bone Patient Not Need Second Operation to Take the Screw

Medical field is getting advanced but there are still many things need to be improved to achieve perfection. One of them is bone problems such as bone cancer and broken bone. For bone cancer, it often has to decrease the bone mass or even amputation performed so more bone is needed. For broken bone problem, it needs platina to reattach but it still needs one more operation to extract the platina and it leaves hole. It inspired five students of Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Andini Isfandiary, Imroatus Sholikhah, Risma Dwi Laksana, Yukiko Irliyani, and Ahmad Nurianto to create biofiller, or bone mass replacement from the soursop leaves’ extract also antibacterial bone screw based on nano hydroxiapatite poly composite. The research was done to find solutions to bone problems.

First Police with UNAIR Social Science Doctoral Degree

Being the first policeman who get doctoral degree from Social Science FISIP UNAIR, is an achievement of Police Comm. Alex Reynold Situmorang. Dissertation of the man who works as Head of Sub Division of Rank, Career Development and Human Resources (Pangkat Robinkar SDM) Polda Jatim focused on Community Police from the prespective of Habermas theory on deliberative democracy. His open exam lasted for two hours. After being graduated, one by one attendees shook his hand. During the exam, A building of FISIP suddenly crowded with policemen as the guests of the academic exam.

Reprimanded for Being Angry at Wife

Among 98 specialists of FK UNAIR conferred last week, there is a success story of a couple, Taufiq Fatchur- Dini Heryani. Their professionalism is tested in their job as neurosurgery specialists (SpBS). Taufiq and Dini are friends at college same year. Both knew each other during registration. After 6 months, they decided to get married. First year of marriage, there was a conflict as professional problem in hospital brought home. Experience in specialist program will be precious. Five years of learning as neurosurgeons will be implemented.
