Perdopin Gathers A Thousand Volunteers

Notary act of Indonesian Palliative Doctor Association (Perdopin) establishment was signed on Saturday, July 23. There are three unfinished tasks, gathering 1,000 palliative volunteers, establishing program, and organizing Asian-Pacific congress. Perdopin has committed to gather the palliative volunteers. As planned, it will be officially opened during 25th anniversary of Indonesian Palliative Community (MPI) in February 2017. The Head of Palliative and Pain Free Installation of RSUD dr. Soetomo, dr. Agus Ali Fauzi, PGD., Pall., Med., who is also the lecturer of Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) said that all this time, Palliative ward is assisted by volunteers which averagely aged more than 40 years. With a thousand volunteer program, hopefully patients are assisted and motivated.

Treated for Four Months, Prof Fasich’s Wife Passes Away

The big family of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) is in sorrow. Mughnijah, wife’s of the previous UNAIR Rector Prof. Fasichul Lisan, passed away on July 22. She had been treated in Universitas Airlangga Hospital for her heart problem. Before she was laid to rest, there was a memorial service in Dharmawangsa Hall, RSUA. The body then prayed in Ulul Azmi Mosque, Campus C UNAIR and then laid to rest in the family graveyard in Sepanjang, Sidoarjo. Thousands  of UNAIR academicians and public performed Janazah prayer lead by the former Minister of Education and Culture, Prof. Muhammad Nuh.

Artificial Eardrum Passes Sound Absorption Test

There are many patients with hearing problems. The problems of hearing are various such as a rupture on the tympanic membrane. It can cause deafness. It inspired Rara Setya Angtika, Ditya Hanif Kharisma, Brillyana Githanadi, Tarikh Omar Asyraf, and Adita Wardani Rahmania to create artificial tympanic membrane. They were supervised by Prihartini Widiyanti,  drg., Mkes. Rara and her team has conducted various tests on it, some of them fourier transform infrared test (FTIR) to measure the quality of the sample and sound absorption test. Coefficient test showed that the sample can absorb sound at the frequency range which can be heard by human. It means that the sample can be used as artificial tympanic membrane.

Some Participants Lost to Get to Test Locations

Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) Student Admission Entrance Test ran well last Sunday, July 24. There were no incidents and impersonation practices. The problem was the less information the participants accessed regarding the test. Therefore, some participants were lost when they were searching for the test location. Practically, it decreases their time to do the test. This year, the participants reached 10,941 people, 5,443 applicants from IPA programs and 5,498 from IPS programs. The quota of UNAIR independent admission was only 1,840 seats.

When Tired, Just Nudge and Take Turns

There are two women from the translator team of ‘City Mayor Forum’. Farah Andita Ramdani and Octrina Nanda Lamtiur,  for three hours present the information in two languages, Indonesian and English. For Farah who was graduated from English Literature, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) admitted that she did make any special preparations. She said that her job was lighter as it was done by two people. The job description was clear, Octa focused on the guests and Farah focused on the city government.
