Wife of Prof. Fasich, 12th UNAIR Rector Passes Away

UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga Rector term 2004 – 2015, Prof. Fasich, Apt., is in sorrow. Friday morning, July 22 at 5.10 local time, Prof. Fasich’s wife, Mughnijah Fasich, passed away in UNAIR Hospital at 64 years old.

She passed away after being treated in UNAIR Hospital for about four months. She had just had her dental operation, six hours afterwards, she had a heart attack and fell into a coma. She was treated in the ICU until her passing.

After being cleansed in UNAIR Hospital, her memorial service and prayer was done in Dharmawangsa Hall Eighth floor of UNAIR Hospital. After Friday prayer, her body will be brought to Ulul Azmi Mosque for another prayer. After the prayer, she will be laid to rest in a public graveyard in Sepanjang, Sidoarjo.

The late mughnijah left her spouse with four children. During college, she was active in Student Senate of Faculty of Pharmacy as the Chairman and in UNAIR Student Council as a secretary.

Director of UNAIR Hospital said that his unit has given the best service to the late Mrs. Fasich.

“We have given our best service and medical treatment, with prayers. But God wills otherwise,” said Prof. Nasron.

In the same occasion, Tjietjiek Tjajahandarie, Ph.D, the Manager of Hospital Planning and Development of RS UNAIR, is also UNAIR academician close with Prof. Fasich and his wife. In 2011, three of them went to holy land, Mecca for umrah. According to Tjietjiek, the late Mrs. Fasich was her role model.

“She was an ideal figure as a wife and mother. Wherever Pak Fasich went, she always prayed for him, either in joy, happiness and challenges. She said once that her husband was her eyes and she was his cane,” said Tjietjiek.

In her memorial service, UNAIR Rector Prof. Nasih expressed his gratitude to all parties who helped during her treatment until her passing.

“I’d like to say thank you very much for all who helped, may you all rewarded well from Allah SWT,” said Nasih. Before Janazah prayer, Nasih also led the mourners to pray for the Mrs. Fasich. (*)
