UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga got an honour as one of the universities visited by the National Resilience Institute (Lemhanas RI). The visit this time was to hold Domestic Affair Strategic Study (SSDN) Regular Education Program LIV 2016, on Monday July 18.
Held in Plenary Room, UNAIR Rector, Prof. Dr. Moh. Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., CMA.,with other high rank officials UNAIR explained about UNAIR which is improving year by year, especially on its independence as it became State University Acting as Legal Entity (PTN BH).
“UNAIR is always improving itself from state owned legal entity to be PTN BH,” he said.
In response to Rector, Rear Admiral FX Agus Susilo who represented Lemhanas Governor said that his visit with the police force, TNI, neighboring countries representatives, academicians and public figures in UNAIR was to perform Lemhanas’s function which is to educate, conduct regeneration, and reinforce national level officials, and review national strategic problems, regional and international.
“Our objectives coming here was none other to perform our function. Hopefully UNAIR experts attended can give more insight to us,” he said.
A legal expert, M. Syaiful Aris, S.H., M.H., LL.M., as the Head of Legal Affairs UNAIR explained about UNAIR statutes. Beside Aris, Dr. Sri Endah Nurhidayati as the lecturer of D3 Tourism UNAIR was also present in the discussion. In his elaboration, Dr. Sri Endah explained UNAIR role in developing tourism as an effort of nation resilience. For her, Indonesia’s wealth from the natural resources, cultural even ethnic should be developed. In Tourism there are many aspects involved, from national identity, independence and resilience.
“Not only economic aspect, in tourist attractions, national identity was also at stake as by visiting other countries’ tourism we will know their impression about our country,” she said.
She added, by tourism, nation’s unity can be maintained. “Maintaining and preserving nation’s unity can be done through Tourism, by making outermost islands be tourism assets,” she said.
In the end of the discussion, she also explained UNAIR roles in improving tourism in Indonesia, by including D3 Tourism program in faculty of vocations with more applied science and conducting internationalization also educating public in Tourism.
“In efforts of educating public, we want the public to be practitioners, not only viewers,” she said. (*)
