UNAIR NEWS – Campus canteen is a place often visited for enjoying refreshment or relaxing and having a conversation with others. Therefore, it is important to make the canteen comfortable, clean and with hygienic menu.

The canteen of Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) was officially opened by the Dean of FKG UNAIR Dr. R. Darmawan Setijanto, drg., M.Kes.

“It was well-known for its cleanliness. There is a certificate for it. Now, we are improving and renovating it. So the students can feel clean, healthy and secure while learning,” said Darmawan.

What is new after Stovit Canteen re-opened?

First, one payment point. Café Stovit customers used to pay to each merchant. But now customers do not have to pay that way. “Now, the payment system is in one point,” said Darmawan.

Second, there is a new innovation after being re-opened, self-cleaning. This self-cleaning policy obliges the customers to clean up after they eat.

“The plates should be brought back by themselves, to the dishwashing point. So, they throw what’s left to the bin, then the plates put in the used section, but they do not have to clean them,” said the dentist.

According to Darmawan, the self-cleaning policy is implemented to promote clean and healthy lifestyle. He admitted that it adopted the habit of Japanese and Korean. “That way, we’re training them to do self-cleaning,” added Darmawan.

To maintain the canteen cleanliness, the faculty staff entrusted the management to Dharmawanita FKG. “As the scope of faculty task is too wide, the canteen is trusted to Dharmawanita. So there will be staff overseeing the canteen. Once a month it will be mopped. We will design the water management. Every food stand has its own water line,” he said.
