UNAIR NEWS – There is an interesting concept introduced by Dean of FISIP Dr. Falih Suaedi, Drs., M.Si. in managing doctoral programs of Social Science. Through a Dean decree, he implements a paradigm of ‘one entry with many exits’. It means that to study in FISIP doctoral programs, all students can get into a program but there will be a lot of concentrations.

There will be four programs as of 2016/2017 academic year, Public Administrations, Media and Communication, Politics, Anthropology. In the near future, it is not impossible there will be another program such as International Relations.

“With a model like this , efficiency can be done,” said the man from Bojonegoro.

Besides, all students from various programs can address or know each other in early study. They can also study from many perspectives. So their knowledge can be expanded. Therefore, doctors of FISIP will have more qualities.

“A scientific discipline is dynamic. One discipline demands many solutions and they may come from other disciplines. Therefore FISIP will always try to make students avoid exclusivity,” he said.

In other part, concentration division can simplify marketing aspects. If  there is no division, the students will ask what they achieve studying in FISIP doctoral program. The division answers the question.

The graduates of communication master programs used to be reluctant to continue in FISIP doctoral programs. So do graduates of anthropology, state administrations and politics master programs. With clear study concentration, they will be convinced to continue study at FISIP UNAIR.

“Alhamdulillah, doctoral programs of FISIP are accredited A. so the quality is assured and excellent,” said Falih. (*)
