BNN and UNAIR Hold Seminar to Deal with Drug Abuse

UNAIR NEWS – Drugs abuse is our shared adversary, even with the young generation. Nowadays young generation is greatly affected by this drug abuse problem when they are expected to be the spear of changes to build a better nation.

Regarding the matter, National Narcotics Agency (BNN) collaborated with Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) to host an event titled ‘Student Activity Unit Capacity Development on P4GN (Prevention of Drugs Abuse and Circulation)’. It was held for two days July 20 and 21, 2016 and participated by representatives of 18 universities in East Java.

Deni Yasmara, M.Kep, Coordinator of UKM of Student Affairs Directorate UNAIR, said that there will be Head of BNN for East Java, Drs. Sukirman, a representative of Communication Higher Education Association (ASPIKOM), Head of Indonesian Psychology Dr. Seger Handoyo, Rector of Universitas Wiraraja Alwiyah, MM, and Head of Sub-Directorate Education of Central BNN Dr. Sulastiana as speakers.

The topic discussed in the seminar will be about introduction on the drugs, drugs abuse prevention campaign, and strategies to apply P4GN program in universities.  For the second day, participants will be invited directly to an area in Madura which the inhabitants have tendency to drug abuse.

“The event is expected to train students’ soft skill to publicize drugs abuse prevention to friends or the public,” said Deni during interview with UNAIR Radio. (*)
